The IBWWSC takes the school's snowboarders and skiers up to the Mt. Hood Meadows to ride for nine weekday nights in January and February. The buses leave Ida B. Wells at 2pm and return at 11pm on every Wednesday or Thursday night depending on which program your athlete is in. Both programs include rides to the mountain, chaperons, food and drinks provided on the way to the mountain and snacks on the way back, insurance provided thru OISA, and the opportunity to become a part of our fantastic IBWWSC community!
The Recreation Team is made up of both skiers and snowboarders and goes up to the mountain on Wednesday nights. The Recreation Team is an opportunity to free ride, make new friends, and progress at your own speed. While there is no formal coaching in this program, our peer mentor coaches and adult coaches are there to help out by request at any time.
The Competition teams (both skiing and snowboarding) go up to the mountain on Thursday nights. The snowboard team competes in four events that lead up to the OISA State Championships in March. The events are: Banked Slalom, Boardercross, Slopestyle and Half-Pipe. Team riders must compete in at least one event. New riders will be coached to compete in at least Banked Slalom which is a timed, solo, self paced event not requiring advanced technical skills. This season we are adding buses to the scheduled Metro League competition weekend events.
