Registration

Thank you for your interest in Ida B. Wells Athletics!  In order to tryout and/or participate in a sport, all student athletes must complete an eligibility process each season for each sport.

Register Online
at https://www.familyid.com/organizations/ida-b-wells-high-school
First time users need to set up an account.  FamilyID captures all necessary information as well as waivers. Once you have an account in FamilyID, subsequent registrations are easy!

Physical Clearance
Sports physicals must be current for the entire season. Once a physical is on file, it is valid for 2 years from the date it is signed by the medical provider. You can download the correct form here: https://www.osaa.org/docs/forms/Physical%20Examination%20Form%20(EN%20r2023).pdfYou can now upload physicals with your registration on FamilyID or you can email completed forms as a scanned PDF to Leanne Van Horn at lvanhorn@pps.net.  Be sure and keep a copy of the physical for your records as well.

Academic Requirements
Students who fail to meet any of these 3 requirements are not eligible to participate in OSAA contests:
1) students must have passed 5 classes the previous semester (except incoming freshmen in the Fall)
2) students must be enrolled in and passing 5 classes in the current semester.
3) students must be making satisfactory progress toward graduation by earning the minimum number of credits: 4.5 credits by the start of 10th grade, 10 credits by the start of 11th grade, 17 credits by the start of 12th grade.

In addition, if students have received a 2.0 GPA or less with no F's or a 2.5 GPA or less with one or more F's, they will be placed on academic probation and must attend study sessions until the end of the season to remain eligible.  Grades are checked at the beginning of each season and again after 1st/3rd quarter to ensure eligibility.

Required Fees
The required Portland Interscholastic League (PIL) Pay-to-Play fee is $200 per sport. The cap is $400 per school year per athlete and $800 per family per school year.  A reduced fee is available if you qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch. If an athlete needs to quit a sport due to injury or academics three weeks or less into the season, a partial refund can be arranged. Payments can be made using https://pps.schoolpay.com/ or in person in the bookkeeper's office. For cut sports, payment should be made after team rosters are announced.
